In case you missed all the hoopla, October 21st, 2015 was
the day that Marty McFly traveled into the future from 1985 in the Back to the
Future trilogy. Fans did a lot of celebrating and, according to Motor Trend;
even Toyota got caught up into the festivities.

“The time-traveling
DeLorean is the obvious automotive superstar in "Back to the Future,"
but Marty McFly's 1985 Toyota pickup truck was definitely drool-worthy. Much
like McFly himself, the Toyota pickup was a reliable and modest unsung hero,
though the truck's blacked-out treatment and off-road mods most likely helped
boost its appeal as the dream truck for many '80s kids.
As "Back to the
Future" fans celebrate October 21, 2015, the day Marty travels to the
future in the movie's 1989 sequel, Toyota is participating in the festivities
by recreating the classic truck with a 2016 Tacoma, along with a special video
featuring McFly, Doc Brown, and the new Mirai fuel-cell car. "Tacoma is a
fun Easter egg in the Mirai launch campaign," said Craig Taguchi, Toyota
PR.
The initial idea and
planning for the "Back to the Future" Tacoma was executed by Taguchi
and James George from Toyota Marketing. Scott Kanemura , owner of KMA Promotions,
also helped with the build."
