The very first Shelby Cobra, CSX 2000, is headed to auction.
The latest and greatest over at Autoweek is that the very
first Shelby Cobra, a CSX 2000, is heading to auction by RM Sotheby at their Monterey
sale, which runs Aug. 19 and 20.
"In 54 years no one has dared touch it -- it is the way
it was," said Jim King, Shelby American historian, in an interview with RM
Sotheby's. "That is really part of the aura of CSX 2000. It is as original
as you can get it."
More specifically, it had been in Shelby's possession since
new. In its early days it was used as a show car and a development car. Carroll
Shelby kept CSX 2000 since day one -- and kept the interior original.
